This makes the book sound kind of Scotland centric, Scotland centric Arthur studied usually focus on the Arthur Mac Aeden theory.
Yes, definitely Scottish traditions about Mordred are discussed in the book, as well as connections to the Clan Campbell and some other bizarre theories.
Thing is I”m not a fan of the Arthur mac Aeden theory, he lived way to late.
We are currently making a drama film down here in Devon & Cornwall (local people, in local locations), centering on Mordred, and from his point of view. There are of course half a million different legends and theories; we have linked in several (plus obviously some artistic license, but trying to keep it to a minimum), and set it across 6th Century Dumnonia (Devon & Cornwall), but in ours we have chosen to depict Mordred and Amr, as the same person. 🙂 Doing the research for the film, it kinda screamed out to do that. Give us a shout if you want to chat further. (Incidentally I think about half the cast – including our Mordred/ Amr – has read your book, its been fantastic to read, discuss, argue, and have as a quick reference as we have set things up)
Wow. I am honored that you have found my book helpful. Please let me know when the film is finished. I would love to see it. I’m in the U.S. but maybe I could get a copy. It makes perfect sense to me that you would blend Amr and Mordred. I think they may well have been the same person.
Hallo there, after a crazy summer of filming, rough camping with a generator for the cameras, and lots of panics, we shot 99.9% of the film (some more work needs doing on Camlann) but we have the trailer out, (the main film is in editing) – if you want a look, it is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiu9ZwwrQ8k
Thanks for letting me know. It looks fascinating. I’ll be sure to spread the word!
How wonderful to see your work appreciated and from far away and on its sheer merits. It is going to be a film and hence distributable and maybe Tyler than can see it.
I once was contaced by a group of people doing a play of Northanger Abbey in England; they told me my on-line caldendar of the novel was a kind of “bible” script for them to use to arrange their scenes. I was so touched and gratified.
How awesome then for you too, Ellen. It’s so gratifying to know when people appreciate our work.
